Price range: $199.95 through $320.95
Description
Steering Gear Box Reseal & Seal Replacement Service
Interested in rebuilding the seals on your steering gear box, but don’t want to take on the challenge yourself?
Let us do the hard work for you. Send us your working steering box and we will reseal it, clean it, paint it,
and reassemble it.
This is a great option if your steering box is leaking fluid, but the box itself is still in good working condition.
Replacing the seals can help stop leaks and extend the life of your steering gear box without taking a chance on a
questionable parts store replacement.
If you are already sending your steering box in for a reseal, we recommend considering the
hydro assist steering box porting option
as well. Even if you are not ready to run hydro assist right now, the ports can be capped off and used later for a future upgrade.
What’s Included
- Steering gear box disassembly as needed for the selected service
- Outer seal replacement, or inner and outer seal replacement depending on the option selected
- Cleaning
- Paint
- Reassembly
- Return shipping included
Which Option Should I Choose?
Option 1: Replace Outer Seals Only
Pick this option if your steering box is leaking fluid, but still works properly and does not have excessive play.
Option 2: Replace Inner and Outer Seals
Pick this option if your steering box leaks or is hard to turn, but has no play, and you do not want to risk getting a bad replacement
box from the parts store.
Important Notes Before Ordering
- Your steering box must already be in working order.
New seals alone will not fix a bad worm gear, damaged internals, a broken steering box, excessive play, or other mechanical issues. - This is a reseal service, not a full steering box rebuild.
If the steering box is worn out internally, a seal replacement will not repair the internal wear. - Most steering boxes will fit in a large USPS flat rate box. You ship the steering box to us, and we handle return shipping.
After your order is placed, you will receive further instructions with shipping details.
U.S. residents only. - Turnaround time is typically about one week once the steering box is received. If you are in a rush, please contact us before ordering,
as we sometimes have a backlog or may be away from the shop.
If you have questions, please contact us before ordering and we will provide answers first.

Steering Gear Box Reseal FAQ
Can you reseal my steering gear box?
Yes. Send us your working steering gear box and we can reseal it, clean it, paint it, and reassemble it.
Choose either outer seals only or inner and outer seals depending on what your box needs.
Does this fix a worn-out steering box?
No. Your steering box must already be in working order. New seals will not fix a bad worm gear, damaged internals,
a broken casting, excessive play, or a steering box that is worn out internally.
What is the difference between outer seals only and inner and outer seals?
The outer seals only option is best if your steering box is leaking fluid but still works properly.
The inner and outer seal option is better if the box leaks or is hard to turn, but still has no play or internal damage.
Should I choose the hydro assist option instead?
If you think you may ever add hydro assist steering in the future, it is worth considering the hydro assist porting option now.
The ports can be capped off until you are ready to add the rest of the hydro assist system later.

Can I send in a steering box with a lot of play?
No. If your steering box has excessive play, damaged internals, or a bad worm gear, a reseal will not fix the problem.
This service is for steering boxes that are already in good working condition but need new seals.
Will this stop my steering box from leaking?
If the leak is caused by bad seals and the steering box is otherwise in good condition, replacing the seals should address the leak.
If the box has damaged internals, worn parts, or a damaged sealing surface, seals alone may not solve the issue.
Do I need to remove the steering box from my vehicle?
Yes. You will need to remove the steering gear box from your vehicle and ship the box to us.
After ordering, you will receive directions on how and where to ship it.
How do I ship my steering box to you?
Most steering boxes will fit in a large USPS flat rate box. You ship the box to us, and we handle return shipping.
After your order is placed, you will receive further instructions with shipping details.
This service is for U.S. residents only.
How long does the reseal service take?
Turnaround time is typically about one week once the steering box is received.
If you are in a rush, please contact us before ordering because backlog and shop availability can vary.
What should I do if I’m not sure whether my box can be resealed?
Please contact us before ordering and we will help answer your questions.
