Yes, I said it: turd! I am “polishing the turd” that is the Dana 30 front axle. A lot of people call doing work to a Dana 30 “polishing a turd” and say it should just be removed and scrapped–replaced with a stronger axle. But there are pros and cons to everything! So what are some of the pros of the stock XJ axle, the Dana 30? What are some of the cons of a stronger axle? Why put any money and work into an axle that is known to be a weak link? Would a truss be the easiest, fastest, best solution?
