How-to remove and replace a GM style ignition key lock cylinder. This style of steering column can be found on many older GM, Chevy, Jeep and other vehicles.
Many times this type of key cylinder lock will get jammed up inside and either they will work without a key, or the tumbler won’t turn at all. It turns out to be a pretty simple fix if you just follow the how-to instructions in the video.
You will have to remove the steering wheel with a steering wheel puller and then remove the lock plate with a lock plate removal tool, both of which can be rented from the local auto parts store. All of the other tools are pretty basic.
